MENTOR/ TUTOR
This section showcases a selection of student projects I’ve had the privilege to mentor since 2016. Each garment you see here is rooted in the student’s original concept and design. My role has been to guide them throughout the entire process—supporting their creative direction while helping transform their vision into reality through advanced pattern drafting and garment construction techniques.
While these are entirely their own ideas, I’ve worked closely to help refine and elevate them—especially when their concepts challenged technical boundaries. From complex silhouettes to experimental cuts and material innovation, I ensured their designs remained wearable, well-constructed, and aligned with industry standards.
Importantly, the teaching and mentoring approach mirrors real-world design thinking frameworks—beginning with research and ideation, moving through problem-solving, prototyping, and culminating in the final outcome. Many students have also incorporated digital design tools—from CAD to digital illustration and presentation—to support concept development and streamline execution and create a professional portfolio and marketing package
Students are also encouraged to think beyond aesthetics, building concepts that connect with cultural narratives, sustainability concerns, and user needs. The process often includes exposure to market positioning, consumer behavior, digital storytelling, and costing strategies, helping them understand the commercial and strategic aspects of design.
This holistic mentorship prepares them not just to create, but to communicate and position their work with clarity and purpose—skills that are essential whether they pursue careers in fashion, tech-integrated design, entrepreneurship, or creative direction.
These selected works represent just a few examples from the many talented individuals I’ve taught and mentored over the years, each journey unique, but all rooted in a shared commitment to creativity, critical thinking, and future-facing design practice.
